SLEEPY EYE — Vincent Mathiowetz age 73, of Sleepy Eye, MN.

Graveside Service will be held at the Home Cemetery, on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 12:30 pm.

The clergy will be Msgr. Eugene Lozinski.

Interment will be at the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.

Military Honors will be provided by the John Watson Springfield American Legion Post #257

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Vincent Hugo Mathiowetz was born on February 14, 1945 in Sleepy Eye, MN to Louis J. & Helen (Nachreiner) Mathiowetz. He grew up in Sleepy Eye and attended St. Mary’s High School until 1963. Vince received his GED while in the service. Vincent served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1966. He married Patricia Ann Hornick on October 1, 1966 in Murdock, MN. Vince worked as an auto mechanic at North Side Garage from 1970-1985, an excavator in Richmond, MN and worked part time as an electrician in Eden Valley. Vince and Pat lived in Sleepy Eye until 1992, moved to Richmond until 2007 where he built their home and later returned to Sleepy Eye until the present time. He enjoyed boating, water skiing, was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed visiting with the guys at the shop. He was on the Sleepy Eye Fire Department for 18 years.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, sons, Gregory (Alex), Gary and Troy, sisters, Alice (Chuck) Wellman, Lucy (Chuck) Moldaschel, Margie (Lenny) Seidl, sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Elwood, Robert Hornick, Colleen (Mike) Fischer and Rhonda (Dave) Sampson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law, James (Dorothy) Mathiowetz, nephew, Richard Wellman and father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Irene (Amsden) Hornick.
