GAYLORD–George A. Hahn, age 92, of Gaylord passed away on Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at Ridgeview on German Assisted Living in New Ulm.

Funeral Service will be Tuesday, Aug. 21, 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaylord with Pastor Scott Richards officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

George August Hahn was born on June 24, 1926, to Theodore J. and Ella (Schuft) Hahn on the family farm near New Auburn. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Auburn. George attended country school through eighth grade, but would have loved to have been able to further his education. Because he didn’t have the opportunity to go on to higher education himself, he made sure his four children all had the opportunity to continue their education after high school.

George married Ruth Woehler at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaylord on June 24, 1951. They were blessed with 67 years together in marriage and four children, Marion, Mary Lou, Mavis and Milo. George worked for many years as a mason and Berg barn cleaner installer with his older brother, Raymond. About 1960, George and Ruth purchased a farm southwest of Gaylord where they farmed while he continued his masonry work. They lived on the farm until four years ago when they moved to Ridgeway on German.

George loved spending time with family, reading anything and everything, speaking in German, his first language, problem-solving to repair his farm equipment, raising animals, listening to music, and visiting with friends over coffee.

When he needed assistance with his daily care, George became a resident of Ridgeway on German in New Ulm and passed away there on Friday, August 17, 2018, at the age of 92 years. Blessed be his memory.

His smile and caring personality will be missed by all he met during his life.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Hahn of New Ulm, MN; children, Marion (Gary) Klimmek of New Ulm, MN, Mary Lou (Brian) Serbus of New Ulm, MN, Mavis (Jeff) Sandgren of Redwood Falls, MN, and Milo (Gretchen) Hahn of Gaylord, MN; grandchildren, Emily (Alec) Schwartz, Marissa Klimmek, Aaron Serbus, Angela Serbus, Tyler (Kaylynn) Sandgren, Trevor Sandgren, Tara Sandgren, Edmund (Katie Nilson) Jaskowiak, Stephanie (Cole) Jensen, and Melina Katzenmeyer; great grandchildren, Natalie Sandgren and Analyse Jaskowiak; brother, Clarence Hahn of Gaylord, MN; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Grace Brinkmann, Rhoda Woehler, Joanne Woehler and LeRoy Woehler; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Ella Hahn; sister, Frieda Wichelmann and her husband, Arnold; brothers, Raymond Hahn and Frederick Hahn; and two brothers and one sister in infancy.
