Elwin Herbert Schubbe

SPRINGFIELD — Elwin Herbert Schubbe, 89, of Springfield, died on July 27, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 3, from 9-11 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield.

Service will be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church on Friday at 11 a.m.

Interment will be at the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.

Elwin Herbert Schubbe Jr. was born on Nov. 6, 1928, in Mankato, to Elwin H. and Malinda (Benz) Schubbe. He served in the U.S. Army for 4 years. After his honorable discharge, he enlisted with the Army Reserves and served in Vietnam from April 1968 until August 1969. He received a Bronze Star.

He is survived by his wife Adeline of Springfield; step children Jane Altenhofen of Gardendale, TX, Deb Salonek of Springfield, and Kerry Jenzen of Springfield; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and siblings Eileen Oldenburg of Cheyenne, WY, Donald Schubbe of Bemidji, James of Fishers, IN, Charles Schubbe of Mapleton, Marvin Schubbe of Mapleton, Shirley Thompson of Sandstone, and Carol Grams of Janesville.
