Janice Albrecht

SURPRISE, Ariz. — Janice Albrecht, 78, of Surprise, AZ and formerly of New Ulm, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 13, 2018 after a long illness.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, SOUTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm, on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Grant Bode officiating with burial following at the New Ulm City Cemetery. Janice is survived by her husband, John; sister, Joyce (Hugh) Edmondson; mother-in-law, Judith Albrecht; sisters-in-law, Patricia (Ralph) Stueber, Mary Fesenmaier, Linda Slyter; and brothers-in-law, Gerald (Janice), Thomas (Margaret), Robert (Jill), Paul (Amy), Charles (Karen), and Timothy (Becky) Albrecht.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Lynn Marie Albrecht; parents, Herman and Emma Walden; brother, Glen Walden; sister, Berneda Walden; father-in-law, Alton Albrecht; brothers-in-law, Michael Fesenmaier, John Slyter, David Albrecht, and Scott Albrecht.

Janice was born to Herman and Emma Walden on October 17, 1939 in New Ulm. She attended New Ulm High School and graduated in 1957. Janice married John Albrecht on March 17, 1972. They resided in New Ulm until 1976 prior to moving to Riverside, CA. This was the beginning of an adventure that took Janice and John to 11 States from California to Florida, Oregon to North Carolina, Texas to Indiana, and finally to Arizona in 2004. This led to Janice’s interest in designing and decorating home interiors. She completed the design and décor work on 10 of her own homes plus helped a number of friends with their homes. While living in New Ulm, Janice worked at the Kaiserhoff Restaurant for many years.
