Visitation will be on Monday, May 14, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.

Service will be held at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd at St. John Lutheran Home on Monday at 10 a.m.

Interment will be at a later date.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.

Eugene Thomas Kubitza was born on August 28, 1929, in Philbrook, to Thomas and Theresa (Ziegler) Kubitza.

Gene served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Antonia of Springfield; children, Shawno Shelby of Eagan, Shelley Olson of Springfield, Thomas Kubitza of Burnsville, and Sandra Poeschel of Cottage Grove; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
