Myra A. Reinke was born on June 5, 1922 to Gustav and Anna (Becker) Reinke in Nicollet County, Minnesota. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Courtland Township and was confirmed in her faith on April 19, 1936. She graduated from Nicollet High School in 1941. On June 21, 1947, she was united in marriage to Erwin O. Schaefer at Immanuel Lutheran Church. For a short time the couple lived on her parents’ farm in Courtland before building their New Ulm home in 1952, where they raised their five children. Once her children started school, she worked at the Colonial Motel until working for her son Bill once he became the owner of Jake’s Pizza. She also volunteered at Treasure Haus resale store, and was a member of CAST (Community And Seniors Together) and the Glockenspiel Club. During her lifetime Myra enjoyed traveling, playing cards and flower gardening. The most important things to Myra were her family and her church. She loved nothing more than watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play together.
