Aurelia “Tootie” Guggisberg

NEW ULM — Aurelia “Tootie” Guggisberg, 93, of New Ulm died Monday , February 26, 2018 at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia surrounded by her family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Saturday, March 3, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Monsignor Douglas Grams celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in Lafayette.

Visitation will be 4 – 7 PM Friday and 9 – 10 AM Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. The Christian Mother’s Society will pray the rosary at 4 PM Friday at the Cathedral.

Aurelia is survived by her daughters, Mary (Virgil) Stradtman of St. James, Gloria (Steve) Schmid of New Ulm, Joann “Jo” (Keith) Kramer of Rochester, Kathy “Katie” (Jim) Schaefer of Rochester; a son, Paul (Deb) Guggisberg of Lafayette; 11 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Irene Schwartz of Sleepy Eye; brothers, Allen (Judy) Mohr of North Mankato and Hilary (Bette) Mohr of Springfield; sister-in-law, Florence Mohr of New Ulm; a brother-in-law, Jim Larson of Sleepy Eye.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold in 1972; sisters, Sister Mary Agneta and Elizabeth Larson; and her brothers, Vernon, Clarence, Marlow and Landis Mohr.

Aurelia Marie Mohr was born December 4, 1924 in Cottonwood Township, Brown County to Martin and Clara (Tauer) Mohr. She attended School District #3 in Cottonwood Township. Aurelia was united in marriage to Harold Guggisberg on November 15, 1948 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they resided in Lafayette where she was a homemaker and was also employed at the Good Samaritan Home in Lafayette for 17 years and as a housekeeper for several individuals for many years. Aurelia enjoyed farming, gardening, caring for her animals and especially spending time with family.

She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Funeral Choir, Christian Mother’s Society and Catholic United.

Aurelia lived a long and happy life, blessed be her memory.
