Robert ‘Bob’ George Augustin

COMFREY — Robert ‘Bob’ George Augustin, age 84 of Comfrey, died Sunday, December 17, 2017, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3 to 6 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye and will continue on Thursday from 9:30 until 10:30 am at the church.

A Parish Prayer Service will held Wednesday at 2:45 p.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs, Leavenworth, on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 10:30 am.

The clergy will be Father Andy Michels.

Interment will be at the Japanese Martyrs Cemetery at a later date.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Robert ‘Bob’ George Augustin was born September 9, 1933, in Mulligan Township, Brown County to Louis and Clara (Eckstein) Augustin. He was united in marriage to Angela Goblirsch on February 8, 1954, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Bob served with the U.S. Army from 1955-57 and following his Honorable Discharge, returned to Mulligan Township where he farmed his entire life. He was a member of the Church of Japanese Martyrs Catholic Church, the Holy Family Society, the Farmer’s Union, and served as a Mulligan Township officer. Bob served for many years as a baseball manager and umpire. He enjoyed farming and especially enjoyed his children and grandchildren and watching their sporting events.

He is survived by wife Angela; children- Debra (James) Gorres and their children Kelly Gorres (John May), Shannon Gorres (Todd Wyant), and Brittany Gorres-Martens (Joshua Martens); Brian (Kim) Augustin and children Jarrod Augustin and Bria Voigt; Bradley (Debra) Augustin and their children Jamie (Tony) Case, Joshua (Kellie) Augustin, and JoBeth (Brad) Kratz, Nancee (Dave) Riebel and their children Amber Riebel (Andy Nadler) and Terry (Misty) Riebel, and Kurt (Cathy) Augustin and their children Katie Augustin and Ryan (Katrina) Augustin; 21 great-grandchildren, ; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law- Mariann Treml, Sylvan Goblirsch, Beatrice Goblirsch, and Stanley Goblirsch. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Diane Lynn in 1957, brothers and sisters- Urban, Etlebert, Delrose (Moldan), Joseph, Leo, Sylvia (Mangen), and Russell and brother-in-law and sisters-in-law- Clarence, Janette, and Jane.
