Service was 11 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2017, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. Burial followed in the church cemetery where the Nicollet Honor Guard provided full military honors.

Visitation was 4 – 8 p.m. Sunday, December 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nicollet and continued from 10 – 11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Herbert is survived by his wife, Arlene Helle, of Nicollet; daughters; Renita Lange of Nicollet, Beverly Onder of Novi, Michigan; son, Duane Helle of New Ulm; four grandchildren; sisters, Esther Augusto of Georgia, Dora Wiegers of Ward Springs; brothers, Donald Helle of Monticello, Florida, Robert Helle of Clarissa.
