Ted L. Thorson

COURTLAND — Ted L. Thorson, age 68, of Courtland, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at his home in Courtland.

Funeral service will be 11 am Monday, October 30, 2017, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Nathan Scharf officiating.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Sunday, October 29, 2017, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. Visitation will also be held an hour prior to the service at church on Monday.

Ted is survived by his wife, Carol (Bode) Thorson of Courtland; father, Robert Thorson of Clarissa; daughter, Resa (David) Harris of Courtland; son, Kurt (Melanie Miller) Thorson of Lake Crystal; sisters, Julie (Charlie) Hoyle of S. Daytona Beach, Florida, Diane (Philip) Wenner of Courtland; brothers, Jerry (Jan) Thorson of Eagle Bend, Ray (Vicki) Thorson of Eagle Bend; brother-in-law, LeRoy (Judy) Bode of Courtland; step-sister-in-law, Darla (Dale) Bode of New Ulm; grandchildren, Jeff Harris of Searles, Adam and Alex Harris of Courtland, Megan Miller of Mankato, Ross and Lucas Miller of Lake Crystal; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Erna Thorson; and father-in-law, Helmut Bode.

Ted Leonard Thorson was born on August 28, 1949 to Robert and Erna (Schulz) Thorson. He was united in marriage to Carol Bode on May 2, 1970 in New Ulm, where they shared 47 wonderful years together. Ted worked for Nicollet County for 34 years as a heavy equipment operator; after retirement he enjoyed grading roads for Ground Zero and was a driver for S&S Motors. In his free time, Ted enjoyed playing softball for Zupan’s Bar, golfing, fishing, deer hunting, bowling, and playing cards with friends and family. Ted was also a past member of the Courtland Recreation Association, the Winthrop Golf Course, and New Ulm Country Club. Many wonderful memories were made during summer vacations at the lake and during hunting season. Blessed be his memory.
