Robert “Bob” Gregory Hamann

AITKEN (Formerly Lafayette) — Robert “Bob” Gregory Hamann, age 67 of Aitken, formerly Lafayette died Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the St. Cloud VA Hospital.

Funeral service will be 4 pm on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home-SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. Pastor Jason Mehring will officiate, and burial will take place at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at a later date. The New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard will provide honors at the funeral home following the service.

Visitation will be from 2-4 pm on Saturday at the funeral home in New Ulm.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Cindy Hamann of Courtland; sisters, Joleen (Greg) Bieraugel of Lafayette, Rose Ann (Dave) Carlsen of Wichita, Kansas; nieces and nephews, Forrest (Jenny) Bieraugel of New Ulm, Andrea (Shawn) Anderson of Savage, Rob (Amanda) Isaacson of Milaca, Leah (Matt) Thompson of Princeton, Jay Isaacson of Alexandria, David (Lynnsey) Carlsen of Northfield; and 18 great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and special friend, Dawn Anderson.

Robert “Bob” Gregory Hamann was born March 18, 1950 in New Ulm to Delton and Rose (Lamecker) Hamann. He lived much of his life in the Lafayette area. Bob attended Lafayette grade school and graduated from Winthrop High School in 1968. Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1971. He was in Vietnam with the 23rd Infantry division earning the Bronze Star for bravery. Upon his return from Vietnam Bob worked for Isakson Plumbing and Heating in Gibbon. He then co-owned R&H Plumbing and Heating in Lafayette. Bob worked for the Klossner Co-op in LP Sales and Service, and later drove truck cross country for Olinger Trucking in Hector. Bob loved to work and always be busy. As a jack of all trades, Bob was very good at fixing things and was always working on a project. Bob served many years as a volunteer fireman with the Courtland Fire Department. He was also a member of the DAV and VFW. Bob enjoyed fishing, gardening and travelling. Memories of Bob will stay in the hearts and minds of all who knew him best. Blessed be his memory.
