Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 6 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye and will continue on Monday from 9 until 11:30 am at the funeral home. There will be a parish prayer service at 5:30pm Sunday at the funeral home.

Service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, on Monday, Oct. 16, at 12 pm. The clergy will be Father Andy Michels. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Jerome H. Weicherding was born on July 17, 1938 in Sleepy Eye, the son of Victor and Veronica (Steffl) Weicherding. He attended and graduated from St. Mary’s High School and the Mankato Business College. On Jan. 10, 1959 he married Patricia Hittsedorf at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Jerome was employed at Tachtronics for 25 years as a production control supervisor, St. Mary’s School for 15 years and also USPS for 5 years. He was a lifelong member of the Sleepy Eye community. Jerome enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, mushroom hunting, playing softball and golf, attending kids and grandkids events and volunteering with Let’s Go Fishing. He was fun loving, quick witted and the life of the party.

Jerome is survived by his wife, Patricia, children, Timothy (Barbara), Sandra (Victor) Helget, Pamela (Allen) Braulick, Terry (Pamela), Kay(Patrick) Davis and Trent (Rashelle), 18 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sister, Shirley (Len) Staupe, brother and sister-in-laws, Carol Hittsdorf, Rosalie Hoeft, Claire (Dave) McDowell, Marilyn (Gary) Vait, Joanne Johnson, Patrick (Shari) Hittesdorf, Leslie (Gail) Hittesdorf, and Marlene Hittesdorf and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, Magnus and Ruby Hittesdorf, grandson, Jacob Weicherding, granddaughter, Ruby Lee Weicherding, sister and brother-in-law, LaDonna and Vernard Domeier, brother-in-laws, Tom Hittesdorf and James Hittesdorf.
