Funeral service will be 11 AM Saturday, October 7, at Nora Unitarian Church in Hanska with Pastor Lisa Doege officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Pisqua Cemetery.

Visitation will be 9:30 – 11 AM Saturday at Nora Unitarian Church in Hanska.

The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is handling the arrangements.

Ardelle is survived by her daughter, Nancy Brudelie of Allentown, Pennsylvania; daughter-in-law, Diane Becken of New Ulm; a son, Doug (Linda) Becken of Ormsby; grandchildren, Jay (Anne) Brudelie of Allentown, Pennsylvania, Jana Brudelie Brown (Jerry) of Allentown, Pennsylvania, Jennifer Braam (Gene) of Mankato, Katherine Becken (Cory Anderson) of Katy, Texas and Josh Higgin (Michelle) of Holly Springs, North Carolina; and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, H. Marlowe Becken; a son, Bryan Becken; sister- in- law, Lorraine Becken; and a brother, Clifford (Kip) Knuth.

Ardelle Lenore Knuth was born April 23, 1923 in Stratford, Iowa to Hans and Esther (Berglund) Knuth. She was a 1940 graduate of Hanska High School. Ardelle was united in marriage to Henrick Marlowe Becken in Roseville, Georgia, where they “stole a march on their friends.” After marriage they farmed in Lake Hanska Township. She was also employed at BF Goodrich in New Ulm. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and gardening. Her true love was music, playing in the Rafter Duster’s group in high school and then with Beckenalia with her son and sister- in- law. She was a member of Nora Unitarian Church where she was the organist for more than 60 years.

“Grandma Ardelle was beautiful inside and out. She was fiercely independent, loving, and had a great sense of humor. She was widely known for her piano playing. We would sit for hours listening to her crank out tunes. She loved her family and she loved the farm. Although her health declined in recent years, she got her wish to live out her days on the farm.”
