SPRINGFIELD — Dean Isaksen, age 74, of Springfield died on July 9, 2017, at Prelude Homes in White Bear Lake.

Funeral Services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Springfield, on Friday, July 14, at 10:30 am.

The clergy will be Pastor David G. Fretham. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Springfield.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. and will continue on Friday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Springfield.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. On line condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.

Dean J. Isaksen was born Aug. 12, 1942 in Springfield, son of Harry and Eleanor (Platz) Isaksen. He attended country school in North Star Township and graduated from Springfield Public High School in 1960. Dean farmed with his dad and brother. In 1964, Dean enlisted in the National Guard serving for 6 years. On Nov. 24, 1973, Dean was united in marriage to Judy Meinert in Springfield and the couple lived in North Star Township on the family farm. Dean was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Springfield and of the Springfield American Legion. He mowed lawns and trimmed shrubbery in Springfield for many years. Dean enjoyed playing “sheephead,” eating popcorn, riding on a golf cart around the farm, visiting with friends and spending time with family, especially his two grandsons Keith and Daniel.

He is survived by his wife Judy of Springfield; son Darren, wife Melissa, and their children Keith and Daniel of Springfield; daughter Darci of Lakeville; sisters: Marlys (Bob) Vanderwerf and Maureen Kersten of Springfield, and Lynn Thieman of Colome, SD; sisters-in-law: Judi Isaksen of Springfield and Jeanne (Mike) Meinert-Fenster of Anchorage, AK; brothers-in-law: Jim (Becky) Meinert and Loren Meinert of Sleepy Eye; nephews: Terry Vanderwerf, Craig, Steve, and Vince Thieman, Chad and Ryan Meinert, and Elias Fenster; nieces: Tracee Vanderwerf, Kristen and Kendra Isaksen, Heidi Fink, and Holli Hoffman. Dean was preceded in death by his parents; brother Floyd (Ike); and brothers-in-law,- Kenneth Kersten and Jim Thieman.
