NEW ULM — Joyce Ann Zimmermann, age 86 of New Ulm died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Ridgeway on German in New Ulm.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Monday, July 10, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Pastor David Nissen will officiate, and ennichement will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery Columbarium at 1:30 p.m.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the church in New Ulm.

Joyce is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Joe) Dietz of New Ulm, Beth Ann (Scott) Larson of Fargo, North Dakota; sons, Daniel (Mary) Zimmermann of Douglasville, Georgia, Larry (Brenda) Zimmermann of Faribault; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Wigner of Emmett, Idaho; and brother, George (Mildred) Glant of Indianapolis, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delferd; son, James Zimmermann; daughter-in-law, Lou Zimmermann; brother, Chester Glant; sister-in-law, Gloria Glant; and brother-in-law, Verrill Wigner.

Joyce Ann Glant was born August 17, 1930 in Warsaw, Indiana to Chester Sr. and Margaret (Ferverda) Glant. She was a 1948 graduate from Warsaw High School in Indiana. On November 21, 1955, Joyce was united in marriage to Delferd “Zoose” Zimmermann at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan Minnesota. The couple was blessed with two daughters and three sons whom together they raised in Morgan and Sleepy Eye before they moved to New Ulm in 1963. Joyce worked earlier in her career for United Airlines in Denver, Colorado from 1951-1955. After marriage, she mainly worked from home raising her family. Joyce was always available to volunteer when needed. Many hours were spent volunteering with various county and community service organizations. Joyce truly loved the simple things in life. She enjoyed singing, knitting, sewing, tending to her flower gardens, and simply going for a nice walk. What she loved most in life was her family. She especially loved watching her grandchildren grow. Joyce was a devout member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Blessed be her memory.
