Lorraine Cordes

NEW ULM — Lorraine Cordes, 90, of New Ulm died Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m Monday, July 10, 2017 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Donald Sutton officiating. Burial will be in the New Ulm City Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, SOUTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Monday. To leave an online condolence for her family or to sign the guestbook go to: www.mvfh.org

Lorraine is survived by her husband, Clifford Cordes of New Ulm; daughters, Rebecca Cordes (Eddie Timmermann) of New Ulm, Shirley (John) Weiers of Redwood Falls, Char (Todd) Nelson of Lafayette, Marjorie (Gene) Lietzau of Aurora, CO, JoAnn Cordes-Eklund of Minneapolis, Robin Schaefer of New Ulm; son, Tim Cordes of New Ulm; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Harvey Lange of Spicer, Donald (Patricia) Lange of Albuquerque, NM, James Lange of New Ulm, David (Jane) Lange of Maple Grove; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Violet Eklund; and sisters-in-law, Jo Lange and Elaine Lange.

Lorraine Lillian Lange was born on Sept. 5, 1926 in Echo to Roy and Hilda (Kasten) Lange. She graduated from Echo High School. On Feb. 24, 1946 she was united in marriage to Clifford R. Cordes at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Lorraine worked at Eibner’s Restaurant and then at J.C. Penney’s in New Ulm until retiring. After retiring she worked at the Kaiserhoff in New Ulm. She loved to bake for her family, garden, play in card clubs, read, travel, and attend Bible study. Lorraine was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
