LAMBERTON — Janice Coulter, age 76, of Lambertondied on June 30, 2017, at her home in Lamberton.

Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 8, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Lamberton. The clergy will be Pastor Mark Jamison. Interment will be at the Lamberton Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday, July 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton and will continue on Saturday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Janice Karen (Graff) Coulter was born on Aug. 2, 1940 to Robert A. and Ethel (Erickson) Graff at her home in Highwater Township, Cottonwood County. She was baptized and confirmed at Highwater Lutheran Church rural Lamberton. She attended District 38 Country School and graduated from Lamberton High School in 1958. She attended Minneapolis School of Business. In January 1960, she returned to Lamberton and started working as a secretary at the Lamberton School. On Sept. 29, 1962 Janice was united in marriage to Merle “Moe” Coulter at Highwater Lutheran Church. Moe and Janice farmed and raised their family north of Lamberton. In addition to working on their farm, she also worked at the Handi-Mart and Valley View Manor Nursing Home. Janice’s favorites included watching the Minnesota Twins, working in the field and mowing the lawn, playing cards, getting together with relatives, friends and classmates, and spending time with her family at Lake Mary for an annual vacation. She also enjoyed volunteering at church, the area food shelf, and the Legion auxiliary. She will be remembered for being a woman of strong faith who was witty, kind-hearted and could visit with anyone she met. She loved baking for others and sharing her caramel rolls, tea rings, and chocolate chip cookies.

Janice is survived by her children: Kari (Bob) Halter, Jeff (fiancée Elise) Coulter of Lamberton, Tammy Schenk of Sleepy Eye, Jodi (John) Smith of Jeffers, and Jacki Anderson of Hoffman; grandchildren: Angela (Douglas) Hall, Allison (Tony) Sauer, Abby Halter, Benjamin Anderson, Mikaela Smith, Ross Anderson, Macy Schenk, Brooke Anderson, and Dominik Smith; great-grandchildren: Emilee and Oaklee Hall, Kynslee Neu, Brekken and Brenner Sauer; sister and brothers: Shirley Mattison, Gary (Diane) Graff of Lamberton, Bruce (Elona) Graff of Minneapolis, and Richard (Joanne) Graff of LeSueur; sisters-in-law: Joyce Graff of Lamberton, Bonnie Graff of Montana, and Edie Coulter of Lamberton and many nieces, nephews, and great friends. Janice was preceded in death by her parents; husband Merle Coulter in 2012; sister Arliss Quiring; brothers Bob Graff and Roger Graff; brothers-in-law: Arlo Mattison and Donald Quiring; and son-in-law Pat Anderson.
