Donna Hood

NEW ULM — Donna Hood, 91, of New Ulm died Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Trinity Suites Memory Care in Farmington. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm with Monsignor Douglas Grams celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 – 7 p.m. Thursday and from 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, NORTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm. Donna is survived by her daughters, Jacquelyn Edwards of Apple Valley, Phyllis (Lowell) Rolland of Enderlin, N.D.; sons, Jim Hood of Lake Crystal, William (LeeAnn) Hood of Marion, AR; son-in-law, James Stokesbary of Lake Crystal; 17 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; sister, Arlene (Dennis) Manderfeld of New Ulm; nieces; and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Verne Hood; daughter, Christine Stokesbary; and a sister, Bernice Klinkner.

Donna Marie Berger was born on March 14, 1926 in Springfield to William and Gertrude (Reinhart) Berger. On July 17, 1947 she was united in marriage to Verne Hood in New Ulm. They farmed in Butternut Township, Blue Earth County. Donna had worked at Herberger’s in New Ulm and later at B.F. Goodrich in New Ulm as a secretary until retiring.

She was a wonderful seamstress, cook, baker and enjoyed dancing, traveling, and league bowling. Donna was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm, Cambria Area Birthday Club, and the Cambria American Legion Auxiliary.
