NEW ULM — Margaret F. Bauer, 84, of New Ulm died Thursday, June 29, 2017 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Visitation will be 4 – 7 p.m. Wed-nesday, July 5, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. The Christian Mother’s Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity

Memorial service will follow at 7 p.m., after the visitation, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home SOUTH CHAPEL with Father Paul Schumacher officiating.

Margaret is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Douglas Schmidt and Paula and Charles Achman, all of New Ulm; grandchildren, Jennifer Achman, Ryan Schmidt and Andrew and Irene Achman; a great-grandson, Isaac Achman; a special family friend, Sandra Brown of Mankato; sisters, Mary Griffin of Minneapolis, Monica (Don) Clark of Zumbrota; and by her brother, Father Paul Schumacher of Winsted.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert “Bobby” Bauer; sons, Brian and Greg Bauer; brothers, Adrian, Gerald, Dennis and Daniel Schumacher; and by her sister, Eileen Braun.

Margaret Francis Schumacher was born January 29, 1933 in Springfield to Mathias and Theresa (Prokosch) Schumacher. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Sleepy Eye. Margaret was united in marriage to Robert Bauer on November 25, 1953 at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth. After marriage they resided in New Ulm. She was employed at 3M in New Ulm for 26 years until her retirement. Margaret enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, watching the Minnesota Twins, and her hobby of collecting cherubs and bells.

She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the donor’s choice.
