Shirley Russell

NEW ULM — Shirley Russell, 84, of New Ulm died Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.

Funeral service will be 11 AM Friday, May 5, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm with Pastor David Nisson officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 – 7 PM Thursday and 7:30 – 11 AM Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Gail (Floyd) Holm of New Ulm; sons, Larry (Donna) Frederickson of New Ulm, Ron (Sharon) Frederickson of Hanska; grandchildren, Bryon Frederickson, Jackie Frederickson, Heather Frederickson, Melissa (Dean) Pederson, Darin (Terri) Holmgren, Stephanie (friend Bruce) Holmgren, Josh (Janis) Holm, Heidi (Jim) Guggisberg, Holly (Pat) Clark, Jeremy Frederickson, Stacy (Dustin) Domeier, Kevin (Dee) Paa, Melissa Paa and Dawn Paa; 29 great grandchildren; 4 great – great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pearl Roiger of New Ulm; brother-in-law, Richard Lueck of New Ulm; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Gerald Frederickson and Edward Russell; sister, Dianne Lueck; and her brother, Dennis Roiger.

Shirley Ann Roiger was born October 19, 1932 in New Ulm to Ambrose and Eleanora (Zupfer) Roiger. She was a graduate of Holy Trinity High School. Shirley was united in marriage to Gerald Frederickson on December 1, 1951 and then to Edward Russell on July 24, 1973. She was employed at the Silver Latch Café, 3M, Kaiserhoff and Dittrich Specialties. Shirley was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post #132 and CAST.

She will be forever in our hearts.
