RED WING — Ardelle Irene Nesburg, 81, of Red Wing, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017 at her home at St. Crispin Living Community.

She was born, Ardelle Irene Bartels on May 26, 1935 to Bernard and Elda (Voth) Bartels in Red Wing. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1953 and the University of Minnesota in 1955 with a degree in nursing. She did her nurses training in Sleepy Eye. In 1956 she married Roy Nesburg and they made their home in Fairfax where they farmed for many years. She worked at Fairfax and Franklin nursing homes and owned Ardie’s Café in Fairfax. They moved to Red Wing in 1984, where she worked at the Red Wing Health Care Center. Her passion for helping others was evident in her years of service as a nurse, 4H leader and Sunday school teacher. She opened her home to anyone who needed a place to stay or a home cooked meal. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and Extension Group. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading and watching sports. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Robin (Julie) Nesburg of Chaska, Judy (Jerry) Plein of Red Wing, Patrick (Dawn) Nesburg of Savage and Lisa (Brett) Sievers of Red Wing; 9 grandchildren, Phillip (Shelsie) Nesburg, Renae (Nate) Busse, Marcus and Nicholas Plein, Isaac and Jacob Nesburg and Nathan, Lucas and Brady Sievers; 5 great-grandchildren, Eva, Sebastian, Collette, Holdan, and Camille; special niece, Jan (Mark) Hansen and her children, Nolan and Caleb; sister, Mary Jean Nibbe; brother, Loren (Gloria) Bartels.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy and her sister, Fay.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, in Red Wing, with Pastor Kristen Schlauderaff officiating.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Mahn Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial at Hauges Cemetery in Franklin.

Memorials preferred to the Lupus foundation or St. Paul’s Youth Organization.
