James L. Anton

MANKATO — James Lee Anton, 73 of Mankato, died Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.

Funeral Mass will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato with visitation from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service.  He will be laid to rest at St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Nicollet, MN.

Jim was born April 28, 1943 to Edward and Dorothy (Meurer) Anton in Vesta, MN. He graduated from Nicollet High School in 1961 and continued his education at Mankato State. Jim worked as a chef at Randal’s (Madsen’s) and Happy Chef. Most recently, he was a security officer at Good Counsel.  He belonged to the Moose Lodge in Mankato and was an active member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic church, belonging to the Catholic Aid.  In his free time, Jim enjoyed gardening, and baking for friends to take to the coffee shop at Gus Johnson Plaza.  He was also an avid Twins and Vikings fan.

Jim is survived by his siblings, Pat Anton of Nicollet, Joe Anton of Lafayette, Edward Anton, Jr. of Mankato, Richard (Ann) Anton of Lake Crystal, Mary Swenson of New Ulm, Kathy Anton of Mankato, and David (Joann) Anton of Maple Grove; and 11 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Nancy and Mavis; and two brothers, Roger and Jerry.
