June Lavera (Miller) Ring

NEW ULM  — June Lavera (Miller) Ring, age 89, of New Ulm, MN, slipped away to heaven peacefully and quietly on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Woodstone Senior Living Community.

Funeral service will be 11 am on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.  Pastor Timothy Smith will officiate, and burial will follow in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.

Visitation will be from 9:30-11 am on Thursday at the church in New Ulm.

June Lavera Miller was born on June 12, 1927 in Chaseburg, Wisconsin to the late Oscar and Ameillia (Kapanke) Miller. She attended a country school near Chaseburg and high school in La Crosse, Wisconsin.   She attended her senior year at Dr. Martin Luther High School in New Ulm, MN. June graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College in 1948. Her first call to teach was in Bylas, Arizona on the Apache Indian Reservation. She was called to St. John’s Lutheran School in Bay City, Michigan and taught 3rd and 4th grade. She taught at FVLHS in Appleton, WI. She was a substitute teacher for District 88 in New Ulm, MN for 30 years. June married Lester Ring in 1955. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm since 1970. June loved to sing in the choirs and had a great love of teaching children. Her hobbies included reading, playing piano, traveling, the outdoors, cooking and was known for her baklava. She loved her grandchildren whom she often cared for.

June is survived by her husband Lester of New Ulm; her children, Molly Ann Ring of Lake City, MN; sons, John (Cindy) Ring of New Ulm, David (Nancy) Ring of York, Nebraska; dearly loved grandchildren, Andrea (Chris) Rubesch of  Duluth, Zachary of Bozeman, Montana, Caleb of New Ulm, Abbey (Mike) Bubolz of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Jacob of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Haley (Andy) Pfeuffer of Port Washington, Wisconsin; great-grandchildren, Henry Bubolz and Clay Pfeuffer; sister, Lulu (Art) Osborne of La Crosse, Wisconsin; and sister-in-law, Elaine Miller of Onalaska, Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Timothy Paul Ring; granddaughter, Laura Molly Ring; and brother, Oscar Miller.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. Paul’s Lutheran School of New Ulm, or Martin Luther College of New Ulm.
