Calvin Bode

NEW ULM – Calvin Bode, 66, of New Ulm died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016 at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Timothy Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Soldier’s Rest Section of the New Ulm City Cemetery in New Ulm. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.

Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Monday. To leave an online condolence for his family or to sign the guestbook go to: www.mvfh.org

Calvin is survived by his daughter, Erin Bode of New Ulm; sons, Jason (Jill) Bode of White Bear Lake, Samuel Bode (fiance, Shannon Portner) of New Ulm; grandchildren, Mason, Brooklynn, Abby and Savanna; brothers, Gerald (Angela) Bode, Thomas Bode (fiance, Linda Klinkner) all of New Ulm. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Calvin Lloyd Bode was born on March 26, 1950 in New Ulm to Edwin and Verona (Schroeder) Bode. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 to 1972 as a machine repair man while stateside and in Vietnam served in air rescue. On May 8, 1976 he was united in marriage to Roxann Roiger at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Sanborn and later divorced. He was employed with B.F. Goodrich (Ilpea Industries) in New Ulm and retired in 2012. Calvin enjoyed coffee with his buddies, old time music, fishing, hunting, watching sports, and especially spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, American Legion, and the V.F.W.
