Daniel “Dan” Sondag

GIBBON – Daniel “Dan” Sondag, 59, of Gibbon died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm with Monsignor John A. Richter celebrating the Mass.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Deirdre Sondag of Gibbon; daughters, Michelle (Ryan) Wieland of Lafayette, Shannon Sondag (Dave Bode) of New Ulm; son, Ryan Sondag (Jennifer Volk) of Lafayette; grandchildren, Tyler Sondag, Addysen & Brody Wieland, Lucas, Lacey, Logan, Layne Sondag-Bode, Tanner Sondag; sister, Lorie Gieseke of New Ulm; brothers, Greg (Wendy) Sondag, Mike (Geneva) Sondag all of Searles, Sid (LuAnn) Sondag of Eden Prairie; sister-in-law, Lynnette Sondag of Winthrop; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mark Sondag; and brother-in-law, Henry Gieseke.

Daniel John Sondag was born on March 27, 1957 in New Ulm to John and Ruby (Willaby) Sondag. On Oct. 3, 1980 he was united in marriage to Deirdre Berg at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm. Dan worked as a boiler operator for the City of New Ulm and retired in 2015. He currently worked at C & J Waste Handling of Lafayette. Dan enjoyed going to the lake, fishing, farming, golfing, hunting, camping, doing handyman work, playing sheephead, helping people, raising sheep, gardening, and spending time with family & friends. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm.
