Randy Sukut

NEW?ULM – Randy Sukut, 59, of New Ulm, died Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, February 7, at Christ the King Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Greg Warner officiating. Burial will follow in the Fort Ridgley Cemetery in Ridgley Township, Nicollet County.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at church on Saturday.

Randy is survived by his wife, Linda Sukut of New Ulm, MN; daughters, Tanya (Martin) Thom of Becker, MN; Stacy Sassen of Becker, MN; Christina Pagelsdorf of Waukesha, WI; a son, Jeremy (Deidre) McInerney of Gillette, WY; a stepdaughter, Jenna Lou (John) Odegard of Mankato; honorary daughter, Maria van der Marel of the Netherlands; stepsons, Jared, Justin and Jacob Dauer all of New Ulm; grandchildren, Ryan, Breanna, Chris, Tyler, Dawson, Dalton, Logan, Paul, Zachary, Khloe, Acey, Aveigha, Lexi Lou and Malik; mother-in-law, Phyliss Vogel of Springfield; sisters, Karla Cook of Schertz, Texas, Cindy Martin of Hudson, Colorado; brothers, Robert (Connie) Sukut of Rapid City, South Dakota, Harry (Rena) Sukut of Hecla, South Dakota, Bruce (Carol) Sukut of Aberdeen, South Dakota, Tim (Tina) Sukut of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and by a sister-in-law, Gloria Sukut of Aberdeen, South Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Russell; and by a nephew, Steven.

Randy Brian Sukut was born October 19, 1955 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to Harold and Mildred (Durr) Sukut.

He was a 1973 graduate of Hecla High School in Hecla, South Dakota. Randy served in the U.S. Air Force from 1974 to 1979. He dedicated 30 years of service to Bridgestone Firestone Corp. and retired with honors on May 1, 2014. He was known to his fellow managers and co-workers as “the Cowboy.” Randy was well regarded for his team leadership, enthusiasm, and his ability to bring out the best in those around him.

On May 2, 2007, Randy was united in marriage to Linda Vogel. and they made their home in New Ulm, MN. Randy’s love for God and his family were the center point of his life. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. He loved his wild adventures out west with his son and often brought others along to share in the fun. Together, Randy and Linda enjoyed their pets, but especially their horses and the time they spent horseback riding and camping together. His horse “Boodie” was particularly near and dear to his heart.

Randy was a jokester and will always be fondly remembered by others for his contagious smile and his ability to make others laugh; as well as his commitment to his faith and family, and his overall love of life!
