Vera Matthewson
GAYLORD – Vera Matthewson, 78, of Gaylord died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013 at the Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm with Pastor Jo Anne Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Winthrop Cemetery.

Vera is survived by her special friend, Clarence Hahn of Gaylord; children, Gerald Atwood and his fiance Judy Minetor of St. Cloud, Debra Engelby of Theif River Falls, Steve Engelby and his fiance Shelly Berg of New Ulm, Randy Engelby and his wife, Peggy of Arlington, Pamela Rubischko of Fairfax; Michael Engelby and his wife, Marie of Deer River; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Janice Owens of Sand Point, Idaho; brother, Everett Atwood and his wife Betty of Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy Matthewson; grandson, Brandon Engelby; great-grandson, Maverick Rubischko Elkins; sisters, Vivian Pearcy, Ernestine Frahm, Aileen Fletcher, Audrey Fletcher, Joan Stratley; and a brother, Dale Atwood.
Vera Mae Atwood was born on July 28, 1935 in Lynd to Howard and Hattie (Moore) Atwood. She married Roy Engelby on May 25, 1955 and later married Roy Mathewson on Oct. 9, 1985. She had worked at Crystal Foods and also at Fingerhut in Gaylord. Vera loved to bake, dance, garden and make crafts.
