Court Proceedings

Brown County

District Court

Ken L. Rakowski, 50, 212 S. German St., New Ulm, was charged Thursday with felony third-degree criminal sexual conduct, fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and gross misdemeanor fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct. According to a Statement of Probable Cause, a New Ulm Police Investigator conducted a follow-up interview with a victim previously interviewed regarding a related matter. The victim was asked about prior sexual contact with Rakowski and said he provided her alcohol on the day in question and was touching her, took her bathing suit bottoms off, the victim passed out and Rakowski had intercourse with the victim.

Joseph T. Rewitzer, 25, 1315 N. Broadway, New Ulm, was charged Thursday with felony second-degree assault-dangerous weapon; threats of violence and misdemeanor fifth-degree assault. According to a Statement of Probable Cause, New Ulm Police responded to an assault report with a hammer at 3:30 p.m., June 7, 2016 at 1621 N. Garden St. The reporting party told police Rewitzer suspected him and another party of tampering with his vehicle. The caller said Rewitzer came to the residence with a ball peen hammer, yelled at them and threatening to beat them up, taking several half swings with the hammer towards them, then a full swing that the caller dodged. The caller said Rewitzer threw the hammer on the ground and said “let’s fight penitentiary style.” Rewitzer left, then returned to the residence. Police got a search warrant and found a ball peen hammer in Rewitzer’s car. Rewitzer later told police he was surrounded by several people that pushed him but he was not physically assaulted.
