New Ulm Police
• Took a stolen bicycle report at 6:10 p.m. Friday Saturday from a 23-year-old homeless man. The bicycle valued at $600, was reported stolen on Minnesota Street North and 17th St. North. A report was done for documentation.
• Took a report at 9:59 p.m. Saturday of a vehicle on the 100 block of Minnesota Street South was broken into. The vehicle owner said mail in the vehicle was opened. Surveillance video showed a suspect who has not been identified. A report was done for documentation.
• Took a report of Pollinator Park damage including profanity written on a picnic table at 11:43 a.m. Saturday. Damage was estimated at $100. A report went to the New Ulm Park & Recreation Dept.
• Took a call at 5:14 p.m. Saturday from a Minneapolis Children’s Hospital case worker who said a 15-year-old New Ulm girl was discharged but her mother refused to pick her up. A report went to Brown County Human Services.
• Took a theft report of a Running’s Terrain Range 5-side blind valued at $799.99 at 1:44 p.m. Sunday. The store sent police video footage of a vehicle believed to have been used in the theft. The report is under investigation.
• Took a report at 3:56 p.m. Sunday from a 37-year-old Lenoir, N.C. woman who said a 51-year-old New Ulm man refused to give her some of her property back after she lived with him. Nearly all the items were clothing, valued at $2,344. The woman said the man dumped bleach over all her clothes. The man told police he left all the woman’s clothing on the front steps and someone must have stolen them if the woman didn’t get them. A report was done for documentation.
• Took a report at 10:33 p.m. Sunday of a 41-year-old Aitkin man leaving an intensive residential treatment facility and planned to check into a New Ulm area motel. An apprehension and detention order as issued by the man’s probation agent. Police located the man at a local hotel and transported him to the Brown County Jail. A report went to Aitkin County Probation.
• Took a report of a stolen check at 12:09 p.m. Monday. A 73-year-old New Ulm man said he wrote a $6,000 check to Discover. When he learned the check was not received by Discover but the amount was withdrawn from his checking account, he contacted his local bank and was told the check was “whitewashed” except for his signature. The bank closed his checking account. A report was done for documentation.
• Took a report Monday of damage to a mail building at Traulich Estates at 11:25 p.m. Monday. It was reported that some kids kicked in a door and may have gained access. It is unknown if mail was stolen or who the suspects are. A report is under investigation. No damage estimate was available.
