New Ulm Police

• Received a two-vehicle crash report without reported injuries at 4:30 p.m. Monday at 20th South and Minnesota St. Larry D. Domeier, 57, New Ulm, was driving a 2016 Dodge Ram and trailer eastbound on 20th South when Brenda P. Watson, 50, New Ulm, drove a 2002 Buick Century into 20th South, trying to turn right, from the north entrance to Hy-Vee Foods, and collided with the trailer. Damage was moderate to the Buick and minor to the trailer.

• Received a call at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 23 from a 74-year-old New Ulm man who said he received photos of himself electronically and the sender wanted money to prevent him from making them public. The caller did not send any money to the sender. A report was done for documentation.

Sibley County Sheriff

• Received a one-vehicle crash call without reported injuries at 8:36 a.m., Aug. 20 on CR 12, four miles east of Arlington. Adam Bates was driving a 2019 Ford Explorer south on CR 12, when he caught the edge of the ditch, pulling the vehicle in. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

• Responded with Winthrop Police to a one-vehicle crash without reported human injuries on 244th Street, west of TH 15 Aug. 21. Joseph Wersal, 56, Winthrop, was westbound on a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado when he struck a loose cow on the road. The cow died.

• Received burglary reports in Arlington and Green Isle at 10:43 a.m., Aug. 22. The Double Tap Bowling and Sports Bar and Club New Yorker were broken into. Suspects took money and damaged property including an ATM machine. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 888-880-4567. You may remain anonymous. The sheriff’s office and Arlington Police are investigating the case.

• Took a single-vehicle crash report near 311th Avenue, just south of TH 25 at 10:44 a.m. Aug. 22. John Krocak, 30, Faribault, was northbound when he swerved to miss a deer, lost control and went into the ditch. The vehicle was inoperable. Krocak was driven to a hospital by a friend.

McLeod County Sheriff

• Responded to a welfare check near Highway 212 and 4th Ave. S.E. in Plato at 11:17 a.m. Aug. 20. A man was arrested for failure to register as a sex offender and transported to the McLeod County Jail in Glencoe.

• Responded to a one-vehicle crash near Plum Ave. and 100th St., north of Brownton at 7:58 p.m. Aug. 23. Logan Erpelding, 25, Hutchinson was driving a 2001 Honda CBR 900 and was transported to Hutchinson Hospital. A deputy cleared with a citation.

State Patrol

• Received a three-vehicle crash report on TH 60 at CR 5, Butterfield Township, Watonwan County at 11:06 p.m. Monday. Erland S. Wiens, 66, Lewiston, was eastbound on TH 60 driving a 2007 Honda Ridgeline when he turned in front of a 2013 GMC Terrain driven by Peter A. Goldsmith, 66, Ida Grove, Ia., causing a crash. A 2004 Chrysler Town & Country driven by Joann E. Haugen, 66, Butterfield was stopped, waiting to proceed when the Honda collided with it, after colliding with the GMC. Peter and Carol Goldsmith were transported to a St. James hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Assisting agencies included the Watonwan County Sheriff’s Office, the Butterfield Fire Dept. plus St. James and Mountain Lake Ambulance.
