New Ulm Police

• Reached out to a 36-year-old New Ulm woman on the 800 block of Sunrise Drive at 5:04 p.m. April 1 who provided statements about a domestic incident on Jan. 19. The incident which she did not report previously involved a 36-year-old New Ulm man she had a protection order against. A report was done and sent to the Brown County Attorney’s Office for charge consideration of domestic assault and contempt of court.

• Stopped a vehicle for a loud muffler at Broadway and 14th St. S. at 11:31 p.m. April 6. A vehicle passenger, a 22-year-old New Ulm woman, was arrested on for an active warrant from Brown County and the Minnesota Department of Corrections. Police found marijuana on the woman and transported her to jail. A report was sent to the Brown County Attorney’s Office for review and consideration of charges including introducing contraband to jail, drug paraphernalia possession and possession of a small amount of marijuana.

• Responded to New Ulm High School at 12:03 p.m. April 7 where a 15-year-old female student was having mental health issues. The student was removed from school and taken to her parents. A report was sent to Brown County Human Services.

Sibley County Sheriff’s Office

• Responded to a one-vehicle rollover crash near the intersection of Highway 15 and 266th Street at 6:20 p.m. April 6. A Chrysler minivan driven by Gloria Schmidt, 81, Arlington, was southbound on Highway 15 when she tried to turn into a residence, entered the ditch and rolled. Gloria and Lawrence Schmidt, 83, were extracted from the vehicle by the Winthrop Fire Dept. They refused medical attention. Winthrop Fire and Ambulance and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted. The crash is under investigation by the State Patrol.
