New Ulm Fire
Department
• Received a fire call at Martin Luther College, 1995 Luther Ct. at 11;39 a.m. Sunday. A fire alarm activated due to condensation, causing a false alarm, police said.
New Ulm Police
• Received a call at 8:17 p.m. Saturday regarding an issue at the New Ulm High School prom. A 50-year-old New Ulm man with brass knuckles, considered a dangerous weapon, was reported to be on school property. Police said nobody was injured. Police noticed the brass knuckles in the man’s possession. A report will be sent to the Brown County Attorney’s Office for charge consideration.
• Received a call about vandalism on a soccer field near the New Ulm art wall, 221 6th St. N. at 12:17 p.m. Sunday. A support pole was reported damaged. Damage was estimated at $2,500.
Sleepy Eye Police
• Received a domestic call at 301 5th Ave. S.E. at 10:43 p.m. Saturday. A 23-year-old Sleepy Eye man was arrested for suspicion of domestic assault by strangulation. A 19-year-old Sleepy Eye woman was arrested for domestic assault. Both suspects were transported to the Brown County Jail. Nobody sought medical attention.
• Received a burglary call at an apartment above Sleepy Eye Floral & Design, 232 1/2 Main St. E. at 12:50 a.m. Sunday. A door was kicked in and the apartment was ransacked. Jewelry and two firearms plus possibly other items were reported stolen. The value of the stolen items was not available.
