Brown County

Sheriff’s Office

• Received a burglary report at Walters Excavating, Inc., 17926 State Highway 15, New Ulm at 6:30 a.m. Friday. Overnight, suspects used forced entry to gain access to the business where they loaded tools and accessories into a 2003 Black GMC Sierra crew cab pickup with a fuel tank in the truck bed that was parked inside the business. Suspects left the business in a 2003 Black GMC.

The sheriff’s office is not releasing a complete list of stolen items. The Black GMC crew cab bears Minnesota license plate 064VEZ. Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 507-233-6720. Information can also be sent to the sheriff’s office tip line at tipsline@co.brown.mn.us

• Received a single-vehicle vehicle crash at the intersection of County Road 2 and 100th Street, Stately Township at 7:44 p.m. Thursday. A 2018 Honda CRV driven by Mary Nickel, 59, Sanborn collided with a 2017 Ford F-350 driven by Joseph Doenhoefer, 35, Homer, Neb., who was northbound on CR 2, pulling an empty P.J. gooseneck flatbed trailer.

Nickel was transported to Springfield Hospital by ambulance and later flown out by a North Memorial helicopter. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Joseph and Jamie Doenhoefer got medical attention for minor injuries at the scene. All occupants wore seat belts and airbags deployed in the Honda. Assisting at the scene were Springfield Police and Ambulance, Sanborn and Comfrey Fire Departments, Comfrey First Responders and the Minnesota State Patrol.

New Ulm Police

• Arrested a 25-year-old Sleepy Eye man at 1100 16th Street North during a Probation Nighthawk Check on an apprehension and detention order due to a probation violation.

• Received a vehicle vandalism report at 709 S. Broadway at 8:15 a.m. Friday. A tailgate was damaged by a pipe or bat. A damage estimate was not available.

McLeod County

Sheriff’s Office

• Received a two-vehicle crash report near County Road 7 and 85th Street north of Stewart at 12:07 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26. A 2003 Ford Expedition driven by Robert Polfus, 73, Buffalo Lake, crossed the enter line and hit a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Schott Schindler, 54, Hutchinson. Both drivers were extricated from their vehicles. Polfus was transported to the Glencoe Hospital. Schindler was transported to Hutchinson Hospital, and flown to Hennepin County Medical Center for emergency services.

Other responding agencies included Stewart and Brownton Fire Departments, Buffalo Lake Ambulance and the Minnesota State Patrol.
