NEW ULM — The Willkommen Committee of the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce stopped by Nuvera, formerly NU-Telecom, to congratulate them and learn more about their name change.

The name change is meant to honor the company’s history in the communications business and its commitment to growth.

Nuvera began 113 years ago as New Ulm Rural Telephone Company. They became New Ulm Telecom, Inc in 1985 and NU-Telecom in 2000. They have been working on this new branding project for about two years, and a lot of research and thought went into the new name.

Nuvera is headquartered in New Ulm. They have expanded over the years and now have customer solution centers in the communities of Glencoe, Goodhue, Hutchinson, Litchfield, Redwood Falls, Sleepy Eye and Springfield and their newest location in Prior Lake, as well as Aurelia, Iowa, and they bring communication services to 38 communities.
