NEW ULM — The Willkommen Committee stopped at the United Way of the Brown County Area offices to welcome the new director. Lori Pickell-Stangel has been with United Way since the beginning of January. Lori has lived in New Ulm for 7 years, moving here from Olivia. Her husband Joe works for the DNR, and their two daughters are in 6th and 8th grades. Lori was with McLeod County Historical Society for 12 years and with the Renville County Historical Society for 6 years prior to that. She has 18 years of experience working for a non-profit so is very familiar with events, programs, partnerships, volunteers and grants. Current happenings at the United Way office include offering free tax preparation and planning the annual fundraiser dinner, Perfect Pairings. Lori is enjoying meeting with the United Way partners and learning about all the great things they are each doing. The United Way office is located at 622 1/2 Center, in the upper level of the Lind House. They can be reached at 354-6512.
