Lafayette Lions to hold

Belgian waffle breakfast

LAFAYETTE — The Lafayette Area Lions Club will host its annual Dad’s Belgian Waffle Breakfast Sunday, Jan. 13 at the Lafayette Community Center. Serving for the breakfast/brunch will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu includes all-you-can eat waffles, sausage, flavored syrups, strawberries, and beverages. Take-outs are available. Advance tickets are available from any Lions member or at Citizens Bank Minnesota, Lafayette Branch through Friday.

Proceeds from the event will be used toward community projects that the Lions Club undertakes.

Minnesota Valley Civil War Round Table to discuss Election of 1860

NEW ULM — Local historian Dave Martinka will present “The Election of 1860” at the Minnesota Valley Civil War Round Table on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the library. The Minnesota Valley Civil War Round Table series is presented the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at New Ulm Public Library and is free and open to the public. Deutscher Sprachklub meeting

NEW ULM — The New Ulm Deutscher Sprachklub will meet Jan. 20 at the room adjacent to the cafeteria of Martin Luther college. Noon meals are buffet, very reasonable and served from 12 to 1 p.m. All are welcome to join us at any time. Any level of German speaking ability are welcome. There is no fee. Just show to share fun.

Farmers Union, NFO meeting Monday in Comfrey

COMFREY — The Annual Joint Meeting for the Brown County Farmers Union and Brown County NFO is being held Monday, Jan. 14 at the Comfrey Bar & Grill.

Dinner is at 7 p.m. (order off the menu), followed by the meeting.

The speaker will be Brian Klabunde, Vice President, Minnesota Farmers Union.
