MnDOT holding open house at new

facility in Courtland on Oct. 2

COURTLAND — A new highway maintenance facility, designed for service now and into the future, is the site of an open house located along Highway 14 at the west edge of Courtland. Everyone is welcome to stop by between 4 and 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2.

The $3.5 million truck station replaces an outdated truck station that was located at the Highway 14/15 intersection and is now the site of a new interchange under construction.

The station will presently house four snowplows and five drivers to service Highway 15 from Madelia to Winthrop, Highway 14 from Sleepy Eye to North Mankato and Highway 257. The facility can also accommodate another plow truck if necessary. In addition, five Minnesota State Troopers office out of the facility.

There are numerous other areas of the facility for salt and sand storage, brine storage, fuel management and vehicle washing on a nine-acre site. The energy-efficient facility was designed by Widseth Smith Nolting (WSN) of Rochester and constructed by RAM General Contracting, Inc. of Winsted.
