St. John’s Fall Festival Sunday

SEARLES – St. John’s Church in Searles will hold its Fall Festival on Sunday, August 28.

The event will be held rain or shine everyone is welcome.

A family style Ham & Chicken Dinner will be served from 10:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The cost is $12 for Adults; $4 for 12 and under, and $1.50 for pre-schoolers

Events included bingo, country store, crafts, horse drawn trolley rides, games, music and refreshments. There will be a lunch stand on the grounds

A Big Ticket drawing will be held at 4 p.m. with over $10,000 worth of prizes. Winner need not be present to win.

Team Heather Benefit Sunday, Sept. 11

NICOLLET – A benefit to assist the family of Nicollet High School freshman Heather Giefer with medical and other expenses will be held Sunday, Sept. 11. Heather is the daughter of Tim and Lorie Giefer of rural New Ulm, and is battling an inoperable brain tumor.

The day’s events will be held at Nicollet Public School, 1 Pine Street, and will include a waffle breakfast, an ecumenical worship service, entertainment, silent and live auctions, kids’ activities, food stands, face painting, and more.

The Dad’s Belgian Waffle breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Nicollet Public School Commons. A free will offering will be accepted.

The ecumenical worship service will be held at 10 a.m. at the football field, weather permitting. It will be led by Minister Heidi Hagstrom of Swan Lake’s Fields of Grace, where the Giefers are members, and Pastor Scott Richards of Trinity Lutheran of Sibley Township, Lorie Giefer’s home church. Additional music will follow the service. While there is seating on the bleachers at the field, those attending may wish to bring lawn chairs. In case of bad weather, the service will be moved to the school’s theatre.

Numerous items will be offered at the silent auction, which will be open until 1 p.m. A live auction will begin at 1 p.m. and will feature larger items, among them airline tickets from Sun Country Airlines, Vikings game tickets and memorabilia, Gustavus Youth Basketball Camp, AmaWaterways seven-night Mekong River Cruise, spend a day with Vikings Pro-bowler Randall McDaniel, Vikings tickets, Twins tickets, autographed Minnesota Wild jersey, package of autographed hockey items from Justin Braun of the San Jose Sharks, Kris Dunn autographed Timberwolves basketball, beautiful jewelry items, & more.
