SLEEPY EYE — The 41st Annual Sleepy Eye Ice Fishing Derby was held Sunday.

Cash awards were available in six categories. The six categories were walleye, northern, bass, crappie, sunfish and perch. The awards were $50 for 1st; $40 for 2nd and $30 for 3rd.

During the contest, no walleye were caught and no prizes were awarded in this category. A single bass weighing 1 lbs. 15 oz. was caught by Gary Lambercht. Lambrecht received top 1st in bass.

The northern category received tight competition. Max Bullock received 3rd for a 5-pound northern; Logan Hinderman took 2nd with a 5 lb., 3 oz. northern and Zack Gulden won the northern division with an 8 lb., 7 oz. fish.

For Crappies, Riley Strate caught a 15 oz. fish for 3rd; Chandler Ecker took 2nd with a 1 lbs., 2 oz fish and Alex Joramo won the crappie division with a 1 lbs. 7 oz. fish.

The Sunfish category saw Bob Kruepelstoedler take 3rd with a 6 oz. sunfish; Brandyn Romsdahl took 2nd for 7 oz. fish and Hunter Mertz won the sunfish category with an 8 oz. sunfish.

In perch, William Peterson caught a 4 oz. fish for 3rd; Scott Speiss caught a 5 oz. perch for 2nd and Gary Lambercht took first with a 9 oz. perch.
