4 file for 1 school board seat in Lamberton

LAMBERTON — Four Lamberton candidates have filed for the Red Rock Central (RRC) District 1 School Board seat.

As of Monday, Megan Imker, Ronald Kelsey, Matt Lenning and James Rains filed for the seat. Other RRC School Board candidates filing are John R. Hansen of Westbrook for District 2 and William Rogotzke of Sanborn in District 3.

Most cities with school board, city council and mayoral seats open do not have races yet.

The filing deadline for the Nov. 8 general election is 5 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 16.

The Sleepy Eye Public School Board has four openings. Board members Casey Coulson, Brian L. Nelson and Sheila Wurtzberger have filed for election.

The Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop (GFW) School Board has three openings. Board member Casey J. Prochniak of Gibbon and Winthrop newcomer Peter Schuckert have filed for election.

Cedar Mountain has three openings, with Jeffrey Sorenson of Morgan and Ashley Heibel of Franklin filing.

Springfield has three school board seats open. Jeffrey A. Kretsch, Jessica Potter and Victor Thatcher have filed.

The Redwood Area School Board has four openings. Andrew Lueck and Derek Woodford have filed so far.

Cathy Blowers and Adam Erickson filed for the school board in Nicollet, where three seats are open.

Sibley East and Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart have no candidates.

The Courtland City Council has a race with Justin Kraus and Pamela Rodewald filing for office. Nobody has filed for mayor.

Lafayette has a councilor-at-large race with Tom Polich and David L. Reed filing. Mayor Sandie Peterson filed for election.

Nicollet Mayor Fred L. Froehlich filed for office and Philip Radel filed for council member-at-large.

In Gibbon, Mayor Steve Klukas and councilor Roger Tabbert filed for office.

Redwood Falls Mayor Tom Quackenbush filed for office, as did councilors Jim Sandgren and Larry Arentson. Don Hazen filed for the at-large councilor seat held by Sandgren.

Sanborn Mayor Edward J. Cohrs filed for office, as did councilors Mary J. Fennern and Jeremiah Frasher.

Curt Glaeser filed for a Stewart City Council seat. Nobody has filed for mayor yet.

In Morgan, Dan Christensen filed for city council. Nobody filed for mayor.

Newcomer Shelly Frantz filed for the Springfield City Council Ward 2 seat. The Ward 1 seat is also open.

Cities without anybody filing for mayor or city council include Comfrey, Hanska, Hector, Buffalo Lake, Brownton, Lamberton, Morton, Franklin, Fairfax, Winthrop, Gaylord, Cobden, Evan and Sleepy Eye.
