Fire damages houses on Hilltop

NEW ULM — The New Ulm Fire Department and Police Department responded at 11:24 Monday to a house fire at 1420 Hilltop St. in New Ulm.

The initial report was of a fire in the attached garage at the residence. Upon arrival, the garage was fully involved and the fire had extended into the house. Neighboring houses were also damaged.

The New Ulm Fire Department and New Ulm Police Department were assisted by Courtland Fire Department and Allina Ambulance.

Dave Nesje and his daughter Grayson were home at the time but were able to exit the house prior to the fired department’s arrival. No injuries were reported. Crews were on scene for approximately 3 hours.

The fire originated in the garage with the cause still under investigation, said New Ulm Fire Chief Paul Macho.
