Sleepy Eye Fire Dept. answers two calls
SLEEPY EYE — The Sleepy Eye Fire Dept. answered a couple fire calls Saturday, July 31, and Monday, Aug. 2.
On Saturday, a call received at 4:56 p.m. from the Divine Providence Home, 700 3rd Ave. N.W. involved a fluorescent lighting fixture ballast that got hot and smoked. Firefighters found the problem and corrected it.
On Monday, firefighters extinguished a fire reported at 12:07 p.m. that burned about 3 1/2 acres of CRP grass at the Danny Hillescheim residence, 24220 210th St., Stark Township. The fire was extinguished with a grass rig because it was quite a ways back in the field, according to Sleepy Eye Fire Chief Ron Zinniel.
