Man charged with trying to run down neighbor blocking alley

NEW ULM — A New Ulm has been charged with allegedly trying to run over a neighbor who was blocking his alley.

Gary Arthur Wendinger, 74, was charged with counts of felony threats of violence, misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor disorderly conduct on Friday in Brown County District Court.

According to the complaint filed in court, a neighbor was trying to restart a stalled car in the alley off North Payne Street on July 6 when Wendinger drove at him. The neighbor dove out of the way.

Wendinger then threatened to shoot the man’s son and said he would have sex with the man’s wife. When the neighbor turned away, he said Wendinger drove at him a second time.

Wendinger told police the neighbor had flipped him off, then blocked him from leaving. He denied trying to hit the neighbor.

Wendinger is on probation after pleading guilty to threatening a neighbor in 2019.
