Freebies offered for vaccine recipients

NEW ULM — A variety of incentives are offered for the first 100,000 people age 12 and older to receive their first COVID-19 vaccine between May 27 and June 30.

Rewards include fishing licenses, state park passes, tickets to Nickelodeon Universe, the Minnesota Zoo, state fair, Valleyfair, Northwoods League baseball games, the Great Lakes Aquarium, and gift cards. Participants must submit first shot information and make a request to the Minnesota Department of Health who will verify vaccine information.

A Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccine clinic will be held 4 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, June 9 at the Brown County Community Services Building, 1117 Center St. Appointments recommended, walk-ins available.

Moderna vaccine clinic appointments are available 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., Thursday, June 10, 17 and 24 at the same site.

Minnesotans can register for a vaccine reward at https://mn.gov/covid19/vaccine-rewards/index.jsp. Participants can also sign up for a vaccine reward by calling 833-431-2053 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Vaccines received before May 27, 2021 and after June 30, 2021 are not eligible for rewards.

As of May 31, 64.7% of Minnesotans over age 16, 64.5% in Brown County, have received at least one vaccine dose. Gov. Walz goal is to reach 70% by July 1.
