Hanska man faces six felony charges

HANSKA — Six felony charges were filed March 18 in Brown County District Court against a 27-year-old Hanska man accused of receiving more than $3,500 worth of stolen property.

Cody L. Stark, 402 Broadway, faces four counts of possession of ammunition/any firearm – conviction or adjudicated delinquent or convicted as extended jurisdiction juvenile for committing in this state or elsewhere, ammunition for an AR-15 rifle; plus receiving stolen property and fifth-degree drug possession-not small amount of marijuana.

Stark’s bail was set at $200,000 without conditions, $100,000 with conditions March 18. A court appearance was set for 9:30 a.m., March 26.

According to court documents, a witness provided law enforcement information on March 17 regarding stolen property at Stark’s residence and that he had an AR-15 (lightweight semi-automatic rifle) in the home he was trying to have a second witness and her son move for him.

In addition, the first witness said a large, yellow toolbox full of tools, valued at more than $3,500 was in Stark’s home and the second victim’s company he worked for, was missing a large, yellow toolbox full of tools.

Law enforcement executed a search warrant at Stark’s home and located a magazine with .223 ammunition for an AR-15, a large, yellow tool box, a red Craftsman tool box, a black tote with CB radios, hydraulic hose, skill jigsaw and black backpack, a liquid compressor gauge, wrenches and batteries, large wrenches, a pressure test kit, hoop tent, two pickup truck bed tool boxes, battery charger, gas air compressor, and Firefield rifle scope.

In the basement, law enforcement found a plate with crystal-like material that NIK tested positive for methamphetamine, a parka similar to what a person wore who wrote out stolen checks at Fleet Farm in Blue Earth County on Feb. 20, 2021 and Home Depot in Blue Earth County on Feb. 20 and 22, 2021 on the second victim’s company account.

Stark’s criminal history showed he was convicted of a third-degree controlled substance crime in Brown County Court, considered a crime of violence under Minnesota law.
