Lyric 3 glad to be reopening
NEW ULM — The silver screen is glowing again at the Lyric 3 movie theater.
Friday afternoon, the Lyric 3 opened back up for business and is screening three new films.
The Lyric 3 was forced to close in November due to Governor Tim Walz’s executive order due to a surge in COIVD-19 infections. Recently the regulations have been lifted and movie theaters are able to reopen with the same regulations as before.
Lyric 3 Manager Brandon Jackson said the theaters are still limited to a 25% maximum capacity, but movie goers can easily reserve a seat by ordering tickets online. Customers are still able to order tickets in person before the show, but he said the best way to secure a seat is through online ordering.
For the first week back in business the theater is showing “The Croods: A New Age,” “Wonder Woman 1984” and “The Marksman.”
“The Croods” originally premiered in Thanksgiving along with “Wonder Woman” but since theaters were closed before the holidays, this is the first time audience have been able to see them on the big screen. “The Marksman” is a brand new film for the older audiences.
The Lyric 3 did see customers coming in for their first screenings on Friday, but it anticipates even higher attendance over the weekend. Many customers have already started ordering tickets.
For now, the Lyric 3 will only screen films on the weekends, but will be open this Monday for Martin Luther King Day.
Jackson said the MLK is a big weekend for the movie theaters, especially with a “The Croods” playing, which is a kids film.
Showtimes are listed on the Lyric 3 website and tickets can also be reserved.
