‘Krampus Christmas’ event on hold

NEW ULM — Downtown New Ulm will have to wait a little longer to experience a holiday-themed haunted House.

“A Krampus Christmas” presented by New Ulm Nightmares has been canceled. The haunted house event was scheduled for this Saturday at 21 S. Minnesota Street but organizer Doug Hughes was informed by Brown County Public Health that the event was restricted due to Gov. Tim Walz’s extended restriction on indoor entertainment. Hughes said this would not be the end of the haunted holiday fun, but it would be delayed. He said The Grinch and Krampus would instead join Santa Claus at the Brown County Fairgrounds for the special holiday drive-through.

Brown County Fair is hosting a holiday drive-through event for families from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19 at the Brown County Fair Grounds. Santa and reindeer will attend the event and now so will The Grinch and Krampus.

This is a free event to the public and is drive-through only. Vehicles enter the fairgrounds from the Franklin Street gate and drive through the grounds and exit on 12th North.

As for the Krampus-themed haunted house, Hughes said they are hoping to open it when restrictions allow it. Hughes promises a bigger and better scare house called “Haunted Holiday Haunt” featuring scares from other major holidays.
