SE City Council considers lot sales rules

SLEEPY EYE –The Sleepy Eye City Council will consider ordinances to sell real estate in the Sleepy Hollow Fifth Addition to three parties on Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Dennis and Sharon Fromm offered $$96,000 for Lots 3, 4 and 5 in Block 4, Elm Street, N.E. Addition. The Fromms intend to divide the three lots into five lots, 77 feet by 150 feet (each).

“This would make these lots more comparable to the existing lots on this street that are 85 feet in width, and make them more affordable to potential buyers,” read an Aug. 5 letter to City Manager Bob Elston and the Sleepy Eye City Council.

“It is our intention to build attractive buildings following the covenant guidelines, and sell them,” read the Fromm’s letter.

The Fromms also proposed a $24,000 offer for a lot on Birch Street N.E. with water and sewer hookups that is across the street from a lot recently bought by Tom and Allie Hillesheim.

The city council will also consider:

• A $32,000 offer for Lot 1, Block 4 of the Sleepy Hollow 5th Addition.

• Selling Lot 2, Block 4 of the Sleepy Hollow 5th Addition to Brian and Michelle Strate.

• 12th Avenue/St. Mary’s project and 2020 Street & Utility project updates.

• Conditional Use Permits for the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary to build a three by four feet sign on an eight foot pole by their facility; and to allow rental of indoor storage space for recreational vehicles on Tamara Miller-Como’s property.

• The meeting begins at 8 p.m., Tuesday in the council chamber. In order to maintain social distancing and in accordance with Mn Statute 13D.021, the meeting will be available on GoToMeeting. The public may access the webcast at www.gotomeeting.com, access code or meeting ID 863-295-581 or by calling 1-646-749-3122 and using access code 863-295-581 followed by the # sign.
