Special school board meeting today, to decide on school in fall

Editor’s Note: This post has been corrected to show that the time of the District 88 School Board Meeting is 5:30 p.m. today.

NEW ULM — The District 88 School board is holding a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. today, to present and discuss the plan for opening the school sites this fall.

The meeting will begin with a presentation from Superintendent Jeff Bertrang and other school administrators. A discussion on the plan will follow.

Based on an emergency executive order from Gov. Tim Walz and requirements set by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Bertrang is recommending the district adopt in-person learning for students grades K-6 and hybrid learning for students 7-12. The hybrid learning would include a combination of in-person and distance learning.

The school board will be asked to approve a resolution accepting this district base learning model for the 2020-2021 school year.

Anyone who would like to comment or ask a question may submit it via the website link https://tinyurl.com/ask-nups-board. This link will be active during the meeting for the board chair and superintendent to monitor.

The board will meet at the district conference room at 414 S. Payne St. and virtually using Google Meets.
