Blood mobile makes stop in New Ulm

Staff photo by Clay Schuldt The Red Cross Bloodmobile made a stop in New Ulm on Monday at 4th North and Minnesota Street.

NEW ULM — The Red Cross Blood Mobile made stop across from Allina Bank Monday. The blood mobile had a full 40 appointment scheduled.

The Red Cross has continual need for blood, but COVID-19 has become an obstacle for donations. The Red Cross cannot accept walk-in appointments for donations. All appointments must be made in advance. Temperatures of all donors are taken in advance to screen for potential illness.

Anyone interested in donating may visit the American Red Cross webpage and find a donation time and place based on area code.

Appointments for the next two blood drives in New Ulm are fully booked. A blood drive will be held at the Hanska Community Center, Thursday, July 30. Five appointment time are available.

The Red Cross will return to the Civic Center for a blood drive Sept. 2-Sept. 4.

It will also be in Springfield from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on August 3 at the Springfield High School, and from 12 to 6 p.m. on Aug. 6 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
